i feel like i'm trying so hard to live that i am doing no living at all. and i wish i could just shake the dust - of the past, of this town, of everthing that is weighing me down - but i have a static cling and the dust stays on me no matter how hard i shake and run. my throat is almost gone from the praying and screaming and my muscles are aching and bleeding and soon i'm afraid i'll be gone. so i hear what he's saying and my eyes swim with tears at it but i don't know if i can make his words mean something, when practically everything i know has lost it's meaning.

I just want to say that Valentine's Day doesn't have to be seen in a negative way. Think of it as a day to appreciate the people already in your life that you love, and as a way to appreciate and love yourself. Too many people say that they hate Valentine's Day, but really, it's just another day.

I've listened to the poem about a hundred times now from when you guys posted it on the blog before. The words "You're alive and you matter" was what got to me.
I recently sought out help for my cutting, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help from this website. So thank you so much. And you're right. This holiday doesn't name me.

i absolutely love this poem. its so inspiring. the part where he talks about we have enough blood to fill oceans is so thought provoking. and ive been making his words mean something everyday of my life. and this is so true, a holiday doesnt define you. in fact, most valentines days i go out with all my best friends to share the love (:
