Over the past couple days we've heard many stories from our friends in Australia addressing the flood disasters happening in Queensland. It has been reported that the area under flood watch is greater than the size of France and Germany combined, and that three quarters of the state has now been declared a disaster zone.
After a flash flood through the town of Toowoomba took the lives of 10 people and left the number missing close to 80 and rising, it occured to me that I may have met some of these people. I've traveled to Brisbane twice over the past two years for Soundwave Festival and realized that it's only an hour and a half away from Toowoomba. We've had hundreds of people stop by the tent to buy a shirt or just say hello. Hundreds of people whose life became intertwined with mine in some way. It can leave you feeling helpless when you're halfway around the world while watching videos like the one below and it doesn't make things any easier.
There will be a lot of rebuilding in Queensland, and we offer thoughts to everyone affected by the floods. You can read more about what's happening in the area here. If you would like to donate to relief efforts, click here.
With Hope,

Thankyou. It is comforting to know that people around the world are thinking of us and aiding with recovery. Toowoomba and Ipswich still have more problems to come and the banks have just broken in Brisbane so we are expected to be effected sometime this afternoon.
The city is in lockdown with almost all retail stores closed for the day. Power is in the process of being cut around the city areas.
I think the worse is yet to come.

Big thanks to the guys at TWLOHA.
I always stop by your tent at sondwave, and your always so supportive and cheerful. Its great to see you guys giving your love to us stranded in Australia. Where soundwave is normally held, its expected to possibly go under water at 4pm this afternoon with the king tides. The entrance building for SW is being used as a base for those affected. Everyones donating their spare money, and uniting as a country. Its great to see.
But thanks again for your support!

I was in Brisbane last November for a week. And I can relate to how Chris is feeling. That this may have affected the people that I've met and the places that I've graced. Eventhough it was just for a week, eventhough it was a fleeting second, it's still the people that I've had the pleasure of welcoming in my life.
Stay safe Queensland. There's always hope. The rain will eventually make way for the sun. And you're in my thoughts.
Godspeed.

Thanks Chris for bringing attention to the devastation in Australia. We have family and friends in Brisbane that are really concerned about the lack of food. Please pray.

Thanks for the thoughts. It's noticeable that news travels fast and the world is hurting with Queensland right now.
Much of the state is now in clean up and recovery mode. As with all disasters there has been an incredible amount of destruction, including the loss of life.
It is however amazing to see the community pull together and help those who have lost everything. It may be a very long road to recovery but there is nothing like community and the Australia spirit to help us along :)

Thanks TWLOHA for thinking about us Down Under. There's also a lot of flooding in Victoria from rain we had over the weekend that's affecting the north of the state, it kind of feels like an unnecessary blow from Mother Nature but at least it's showing people here that we need to be aware and prepared for all different kinds of natural disasters in this "sunburnt" country.
Thanks again :) Em xoxox

our whole area was flooded. It's been a heart breaking time, thank you guys for thinking of us! Its a lot bigger then just Queensland now, most of the east coast has been affected, from Townsville to Hobart.
